I have added, as of 14 June 2008, a link and contact information for Mocha Stamps, updated information for Harry Patsalos, and descriptions of the current issues of Arabian Gulf States Postal History Quarterly and The Dhow.
The Arabian Gulf States Postal History and Stamps Quarterly is available both in a paper version and as a .pdf file. For a copy of the current issue, and for further information and for subscription rates contact kameltom. The Spring 2009 issue includes a warning about Abu Dhabi and Dubai postal stationery "varieties" that have recently appeared for sale on eBay, an article about the overland mail rates from Bahrain, and shorter pieces about the 1933 booklet and overprint varieties on several stamps from the British postal period, an image of what may be the earliest Kuwait air mail cover - postmarked 30 June 1922, an interesting article about several Kuwaiti covers from 1973 and 1974 with a "MECHANICALLY EXAMINED" cachet in Arabic, and a possible reason why the cachet was used, examples of various covers and stamps from Muscat and from Oman, (the cover with four 75 on 250 baiza stamps from 1978 is especially interesting), a 1938 cover postmarked from Bahrain with a Qatar connection, a reprint of several pages of the Abu Dhabi postal guide, an interesting cover from Dubai addressed to Finbar Kenny when he was in Fujairah, Dubai CTO varieties, and an important piece on the A and B wavy lines machine cancels, including images of the English and Arabic 60th Anniversary of Dubai Postal Services commemorative cancels. A must issue for anyone collecting this area!!
The March 2008 issue of The Dhow includes an index to past volumes of The Dhow, articles about how underpaid mail was dealt with by the Sea Post, about the Number 8 Squadron (Part 2), about the Aden "T" marking, about Aden military mail, and with pictures of assorted stamps, covers and post cards. The June 2008 issue of The Dhow includes articles about Navy censor markingss used in Aden during the Second World War, about pre-1915 Perim Island material, and pictures and discussions of assorted stamps, covers and post cards. The material is worth looking at and the articles are worth your time reading. Contact Gary Brown for a subscription to The Dhow. The price is $25.00 US a year.
If you are interested in the philatelic history of the State of Oman, do join the Arab Gulf and Yemen Stamp Group, if only for the article about the official stationery used by the State of Oman to send its stamps to philatelists. You can find the article by clicking on "File".
This list includes the addresses of various dealers in stamps, in covers, in auctions, in reference materials and for individuals and societies who are sources for reference materials. As well, there are links to online articles and links to other sites.
Note: These addresses and links are subject to change. If you wish to share an address or link of a source for material or information, you are welcome to email us.

The www.abu-dhabi-stamps.com set of pages is an important source for the stamps and postal history of this state. Click on the search engine link to access the images and background of the stamps, covers and aerogrammes of Abu Dhabi. The information on the rest of the pages is also worth reading. The web sites, www.oman-stamps.com , www.bahrain-stamps.com and www.kuwait-stamps are also worth checking. Additions to these sites as well as to the Dubai, Qatar and United Arab Emirates sites promises to make this set of sites an important addition to the stamps and postal history of the Gulf States.
Khalid al-Omaira has created a great set of pages for the postal history of the United Arab Emirates and of the former postal administrations that now make up the UAE. He has also generously helped me with his time and efforts to put together many of the images for my site.
The Arab Gulf and Yemen stamp group is an online group for collectors and dealers of the stamps, covers and postal history of the Arab Gulf States and Yemen. The Arab Gulf and Yemen Stamp Album has images of various stamps and covers from this area.

R. Howard Courtney's site includes articles and images of some of the more interesting Dubai stamps and postal stationery as well as images and articles of his many other philatelic interests. His articles about Audhali and Dubai fakes and forgeries are worth reading. My thanks for all his help. An important resource for the Emirates postal history. A bit of news - R. Howard Courtney's The Arab World Philatelist is online as a set of images!
British Commonwealth Postmarks is a set of pages by Robert Cragg. Includes postmarks of Aden and the Gulf States. May be useful.
Dakshina Kannada Philatelic Association promises to be an interesting site. Will be useful to anyone collecting India used in the Arab Gulf and Aden.
The Emirates Philatelic Association web site features include links to a buying and to a selling page for the stamps of the United Arab Emirates as well as a link to a discussion page. You do not need to be a member of the association to use these and the other features on the site.
Joachim Duester has written an article entitled The Dhufar issues of the "Oman Imamate State". This is surely the first article of any importance about the background of the Dhufar issues since Merv Chaplin's account in the second issue of the Journal of Arabian Philately. Both articles are worth reading. You may also wish to check Joachim Duester's Oman site for further research about Oman.
The Ottoman and Near East Philatelic Society is a dealing with the stamps and postal history of the area. Worth checking for their articles, some of which are online.
The Oriental Philatelic Association of London has a new website. The site includes a index to the society's journal, OPAL Journal, and their yearly auction. The OPAL Journal is published three times a year. Articles concerning Aden, Yemen and the Gulf States can be found in the index.
Royal Philatelic Society of Canada
The generous donations of books, journals and other philatelic material by its
members to the National Archives makes possible my research as well as the research
by so many others. My thanks.
