Sharjah issued its first aerogrammes on 6 August 1964. This set of aerogrammes had three values: 20 naye paise, 30 naye paise and 40 naye paise. The design was based on Sharjah's first airmail set. The designer of the stamps was Bruce Conde.
The design of the imprinted stamp includes an image of Shaikh Saqr, the flag of Sharjah, a hawk and a map of Sharjah. The image of the map of Sharjah was based on a design by Ibrahim Mubarak. The aerogrammes were printed on watermarked paper by Harrison and Sons Ltd.
