Following the devaluation of the rupee by India, Sharjah and its dependency , Khor Fakkan, temporarily adopted the Saudi Arabia piastre and rial ( 20 piastres = 1 rial ) as its currency. The former denominations were overprinted with three bars and the new denominations were overprinted either above or to the side of the former denominations. These sets were released probably between June and September 1966.
