Lot 78.

Examples from Oxfam Lot #14

Canada:  1846 Kingston U.C. Frontenac County double broken circle NO 2 1846, cross border cover to NY for which only US postage is required and indicated by a manuscript 10 for a destination of over 300 miles from the border.
In 1846 Kingston was an exchange office on the border with the USA and the postmaster at Kingston was also
a postmaster of the US Post Office Department (see p.58 Boggs) so he charged only US postage on this cover to NY.
One of the very few situations where a cover could be mailed in Canada w/o paying Canadian postage,
or to the USA from outside incurring only US postage.
