Welcome to our 21st auction
containing, as usual, a variety of mainly inexpensive material that we
hope will appeal to all types of collectors. There are more low- priced
covers than usual, both individual covers and bulk lots, as well as
more FDCs. There are many lots supporting a transportation theme
throughout the bulk, covers and stamp sections. As you can see from the
illustrations above, ship material in particular stands out: a
maiden voyage, paquebots, postcards, Gibralter and other FDCs, even an
Empress of Ireland” 1910 breakfast menu and a 1967 cross-Canada

As usual, please let us know if you would like to see a scan that
is not up on our web site. For those in the Ottawa area or visiting, we
will also be holding a viewing day at the Oxfam National Office on
Wednesday 15 November, 10am – 4pm.
As you probably know, we use Canada Post for our mailing, and we
plaster stamps all over our parcels. When you bid, please keep in mind
that postage costs are higher for small parcels than for large ones
over 1kg – so it is often better to win more than one lot, and some of
our customers add some mail order items after they know which auction
lots they have won, to save on postage. We hope you find many items of
scans are on the web at http://www.ohmygosh.on.ca/.
If we miss scanning the image of a lot in which you are particularly
interested, please let us know and we will send it to you or upload it
to the website.
Basic Information for Bidders:
Buyers Premium: what you bid is what you pay, except for postage
- Lot Descriptions
- All mint stamps in this sale are hinged unless
specifically identified as “MNH” = never hinged.
- We use common stamp abbreviations: F= fine, VF= very
fine, M= mint, NH= never hinged, DG= disturbed gum, s/sheet = souvenir
sheet, SON = sock on the nose cancel and b/s = backstamp.
- Scott catalogue numbers and prices are shown except for
Canada where the Canada Specialized Catalogue 2016 prices have
generally been used. C.V. = Catalogue Value.
- All estimates, and all bidding and billing will be in

- Minimum bid for any lot is $1.00.
- Bid in increments of $1 up to $30; increments of $2
from $30 up to $50; and increments of $5 over $50.
- When there is only
one bid on a lot, the bidder pays 50% of the estimate. When
there is a tie, the first person who submitted a bid will pay the
amount of the bid. When there is a clear winner, they will
pay one increment above the underbidder.
- No lot will be
sold for less than 50% of the estimate.

payment before lots are released. Payment should be by personal cheque
or money order addressed to Oxfam Canada Stamp Program. Unfortunately,
we are not equipped to handle credit cards.
