to our 20th auction. Over the past 17 years our auctions have more than
doubled in size and value, and attracted more collectors. We hope we
are getting better at selecting and presenting interesting and unusual
As well as our normal variety of mostly
modern stamps and covers, this auction features some better used 19th
Century Canada and several large donations of first day covers (FDCs).
There are many Canadian FDCs with uncommon or scarce cachets, and a
wide selection of modern World FDCs, including some organized by
topical subject. And for the cancel collector, in the Canadian Bulk
Covers section we are clearing out our show stock of covers from the
1980s & 90s which contains many exceptional strikes of Canadian
town cancels. We also have 11 lots of modern hand cancels sorted by
province & territory.
We realize bulk lots are difficult for
bidders to assess. If you would like a scan of any lot, please let us
know soon. We will do our best to send you a copy of a representative
sample and to post it on our volunteer-hosted web site. For those in
the Ottawa area or visiting, we will also be holding a viewing day at
the Oxfam National Office on Wednesday 31 May.
As you probably know, we use Canada Post
for our mailing, and we plaster stamps on all over our parcels. When
you bid, please keep in mind that postage costs are higher for small
parcels than for large ones over 1kg – so it is often better to win
more than one lot, and some of our customers add some mail order items
after they know what auction lots they have won, to save on postage. We
hope you find many items of interest!
scans are on the web at http://www.ohmygosh.on.ca/.
If we miss scanning the image of a lot in which you are particularly
interested, please let us know and we will send it to you or upload it
to the website.
