auction is a big change for us: we have received so much material that
we decided to hold a second auction this year. This is good news for
our fundraising which will be the highest ever in 2015, and we may make
spring and fall auctions a regular feature in the future. Although
Mailbid 17 is not as large as Mailbid 16, it contains the usual variety
of material, and there is lots of material left over for Mailbid 18
While most of our donations are modern recent
stamps and covers, this auction features more bulk lots of old albums
and small collections. It is difficult for us to describe these
accurately in the short space available in the catalogue, and the lack
of detail may present a challenge for mail bidders. So, if we can help
you decide what to bid on by providing scans or additional information,
please let us know and we will do our best. For those in the Ottawa
area or visiting, we will also be holding a viewing day at our office
on Tuesday 10 November.
In addition to a great variety of
worldwide lots, this auction includes more Canadian used material with
interesting cancels, more of the very popular picture post stamps, and
some mint copies of the UNESCO souvenir sheets with the Dinosaur error
that were withdrawn by Canada Post. We hope you find something of
Some scans are on the web at http://www.ohmygosh.on.ca/.
If we miss scanning the image of a lot in which you are particularly
interested, please let us know and we will send it to you or upload it
to the website.
